Hi, I'm Klaus, founder of The Way of the Tortoise.
After some challenging life changes in 2018 I found myself a single dad with a beautiful 4-year-old daughter to take care of (see above & I'm sure you agree!)
I found my calling as a parent, but circumstances in 2018 took things to another level when I was thrust into full time parenting. Everything shifted. I had to be there, emotionally and for the school run, which meant changing career, recalibrating my prospects, my aspirations, everything. It wasn’t easy, and change didn’t happen overnight. But that’s when the real learning happened.
I had always been interested in personal development, in creating a positive mindset and being mindful, but it was time to put theory to the ultimate test. With support from my close friends and family (and after a brief period of self-pity), I slowly began creating a set of powerful habits. I had to, for my daughter, and honestly, it saved me. Slowly and surely, like a tortoise, my life turned around. The answer was small steps, and the key habit was keeping a journal.
I created a philosophy and a practical guide that worked for me, and it's pretty much practical what appears in A Journal to Happiness (the lovely green book featured on this site. I'm so grateful to be able to put my past experiences to good use to help others who are going through their own life challenges.
It's a small company, just me really, and I juggle it around being there for my little girl and my work as a writer. It's never easy but the challenge and the incredible feedback I receive on the Facebook Group and page make it worth every second!
Try the journal, and once you complete it, I recommend What the Tortoise Taught Us (hands down my favourite book title). It carries on where the journal leaves off with practical tips, exercises, stories and tales that can help keep you inspired and taking those small ploddy steps in the right direction.
Anyway, that's my story...so far! Thank you for reading this and, remember that if you are going through your own struggles, please remember that whatever you're going through, it will all be all right in the end, and if it's not all right, it is not yet the end.
The Philosophy & the Journal
The Way of the Tortoise approach champions, the plodders, the over thinkers and the thoughtful, the humans who never give up.
Despite a tough shell, even the hardiest tortoise has a wobble every now and then. The help, advice and practical tools in these books really make a difference. We all need a gentle reminder to keep us heading in the right direction sometimes.
What's so different about The Tortoise Way?
Self-improvement advice and strategies often rely on the all-or-nothing approach. Crash diets & new fitness regime can often end just as quickly as they begin? We've all been there.
The Way of the Tortoise focuses instead on implementing small changes or tiny incremental steps with simple repetition (that's the important bit).
Follow the steps and adopt simple, powerful habits that fit into your busy lifestyle and are scientifically proven to make a positive difference. No need for drastic changes. This approach instead focuses on small additions to your daily routine.
The Happiness Journal offers information, advice, and an easy to follow structure that will keep you on track with minimal fuss. Try it, you'll be glad you did.
Anyway, thanks for visiting. Have a fantastic day, stay mindful and enjoy your journey wherever it may take you. It brought you here and I couldn't be happier about that.
