Hello, I'm Klaus co-founder of The Way of the Tortoise.
After a number of challenging life changes in 2018 I suddenly found myself a single dad with a beautiful 4-year-old daughter to take care of (see above!)
We were always very close and I really think I found my calling as a Dad. It’s hands down the most incredible thing I have ever experienced but the circumstances in 2018 took things to another level.
I had to be there for her (emotionally and for the school run) which meant changing my career, my prospects, my aspirations, my life. It wasn’t easy and change didn’t happen overnight. I had moments where I really didn’t think I could carry on, my willpower almost non-existent. But I had to keep going for her while trying to support myself mentally and physically. That’s where the real learning happened.
I have always been interested in personal development, positive mindset and mindfulness but it was time to put theory to the test. So with unbelievable support from my amazing close friends and family (and following a predictable but brief period of self-pity), I took action and slowly began creating a set of powerful habits. It’s no exaggeration to say that this saved me. It slowly turned my life around. But what was the answer? Small steps, and the key habit that underpinned it all was keeping a journal.
In 2019 my close friend Gal and I set up The Way of the Tortoise. Our daughters were in the same Nursery class together and he had overcome his own challenges and used a similar structure of personal development techniques to get his life back on track after losing his Mum suddenly.
So we put our heads together to create a philosophy and a practical guide that was easy-to-use, practical and supportive, and The Happiness Journal was born. We're both very grateful to be able to put our experiences to good use to help others going through their own life challenges.
We're still a very small company juggling the business around being there for our young children. It's never easy but we love the challenge and it's worth every second!
Thousands of people have now benefited from the tools and structure of the journal and I receive emails daily explaining how we have made a positive difference in peoples lives. It makes it all worthwhile.
Anyway, that's our story. Thank you for reading and, remember that if you are going through your own struggles, I hope it's provided a little ray of sunshine. Please remember that whatever you're going through, that it will all be all right in the end, and if it's not all right it is not yet the end.
Have a lovely day, Klaus & Gal.
The Philosophy & the Journal
We're here to champion the plodders, the studious, and the thoughtful. Those individuals who never give up.
Because despite a tough shell, even the hardiest tortoise can have a wobble every now and then. So we offer help, advice and practical tools that can really make a difference. after all sometimes we need a gentle reminder to keep us heading in the right direction.
What's so different about The Tortoise Way?
Self-improvement advice and strategies often rely on the all-or-nothing approach. Have you ever attempted a crash diet or new fitness regime which ended just as quickly as it began? You're not alone.
The Way of the Tortoise focuses instead on implementing small changes or tiny incremental steps with repetition (that's the important bit so we underlined it).
We can help you adopt simple, powerful habits that fit within your busy lifestyle and are scientifically proven to make a positive difference. The key thing is not to overload yourself with drastic changes and instead focus on small additions to your current daily routine.
The Happiness Journal pictured below offers information, advice, and an easy to follow structure that will keep you on track with minimal fuss. Thanks for visiting. Have a great day, stay mindful and enjoy your journey wherever it may take you.
It brought you here and we couldn't be happier about that.
