Hello, I'm Klaus, founder of The Way of the Tortoise.
After a number of challenging life changes in 2018 I found myself a single dad with a beautiful 4-year-old daughter to take care of (see above!)
I really think I found my calling as a Dad. It’s hands down the most incredible thing I have ever experienced but circumstances in 2018 took things to another level.
I had to be there for her emotionally and for the school run, which meant changing my career, my prospects, my aspirations, my life. It wasn’t easy and change didn’t happen overnight. But that’s where the real learning happened.
I have always been interested in personal development, positive mindset and mindfulness but it was time to put theory to the test. So with support from my close friends and family (and after a predictable but brief period of self-pity), I took action and slowly began creating a set of powerful habits. It saved me, and slowly and surely, like a tortoise, I turned my life around. The answer was small steps, and the key habit for me was keeping a journal.
I created a philosophy and guide that was easy-to-use, practical and supportive and its called A Journal to Happiness (the lovely blue green one that started it all off). I'm so grateful to be able to put my past experiences to good use to help others who are going through their own life challenges.
It's a small company, just me really, and I juggle it around being there for my little girl and my work as a writer. It's never easy but the challenge and the incredible feedback I receive on the Facebook group and page make it worth every second!
Once you've completed the journal, I recommend taking a look at What the Tortoise Taught Us (hands down my favourite book title btw). It's rather lovely and carries on where the journal leaves off with practical tips, exercises, stories and tales that can help keep you inspired and taking those small ploddy steps in the right direction.
Anyway, that's my story (so far!) Thank you for reading this and, remember that if you are going through your own struggles, please remember that whatever you're going through, it will all be all right in the end, and if it's not all right, it is not yet the end.
Have a lovely day, Klaus.
The Philosophy & the Journal
We're here to champion the plodders, the studious, and the thoughtful. Those individuals who never give up.
Despite a tough shell, even the hardiest tortoise can have a wobble every now and then. So we offer help, advice and practical tools that can really make a difference. after all sometimes we need a gentle reminder to keep us heading in the right direction.
What's so different about The Tortoise Way?
Self-improvement advice and strategies often rely on the all-or-nothing approach. Have you ever attempted a crash diet or new fitness regime which ended just as quickly as it began? You're not alone.
The Way of the Tortoise focuses instead on implementing small changes or tiny incremental steps with repetition (that's the important bit so we underlined it).
We can help you adopt simple, powerful habits that fit within your busy lifestyle and are scientifically proven to make a positive difference. The key thing is not to overload yourself with drastic changes and instead focus on small additions to your current daily routine.
The Happiness Journal pictured below offers information, advice, and an easy to follow structure that will keep you on track with minimal fuss. Thanks for visiting. Have a great day, stay mindful and enjoy your journey wherever it may take you.
It brought you here and we couldn't be happier about that.
